Describe things honestly
The condition, the price, the room, the job: describe them as they actually are. Most disputes on a community noticeboard come from an ad that oversold something, and word travels fast here.

Posting rules
A short list, and none of it is a surprise. Ads that break these are edited or removed, and every rejection tells you which rule it hit.
Keep prices and phone numbers out of the title
They have their own fields. A price in the title cannot be filtered or sorted, and a phone number in the title is scraped within hours.
Write a plain title
Say what the thing is. Capitals, rows of exclamation marks and "you won't believe this" make an ad harder to find, not easier.
Use your own photos
Photograph the actual item, room or vehicle. Catalogue images and pictures taken from other listings are removed — they are the most common sign of a fake ad.
One ad per thing
Posting the same item several times pushes everyone else down the page. Use the free bump instead.
Post in the right place
People browse by category. An ad in the wrong one is seen by the wrong people and moved or removed.
No ads that only exist to send people elsewhere
Ads whose purpose is to drive traffic to another site or app, collect contact details, or push downloads are removed. A genuine ad may link to more information where the category allows it.
No matrimonial or partner-matching ads
A dedicated matrimonial service is coming, with the privacy protections that kind of listing needs. Until then these ads are not accepted here.
Describe your household as a welcome
In a shared home you may say who would fit — students, a couple, a vegetarian household. Say it as a welcome rather than an exclusion. Ads for whole properties are held to the same standards as any rental advertisement in Australia.
Job ads must be lawful
Australian law does not allow a job ad to exclude people by age, sex, race, religion, marital status or similar. Pay must meet the relevant award. Never ask an applicant to pay you for training, equipment or the job itself.

Weapons and ammunition. Illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. Prescription medicines. Tobacco, vapes and nicotine products. Wildlife products. Counterfeit or replica branded goods. Stolen goods. Recalled products. Identity documents. Adult services. Anything whose sale requires a licence you do not hold.
