Most people here are exactly who they say they are. These are the habits that keep it that way, and the handful of scams that specifically target new arrivals.
Never carry a package you did not pack
If you carry luggage for someone else, you are legally responsible for what is inside it. Pack it yourself, see every item, and refuse anything sealed. Check customs rules and your airline's conditions before you agree.
Meet in a public place
Meet somewhere public and busy where you can, bring someone with you for a large purchase, and inspect anything before you hand over money.
Never pay a deposit for a room you have not seen
This is the most common scam aimed at new arrivals. A real landlord or flatmate will let you inspect first, or at minimum meet you on a video call from inside the property. Pressure to transfer money quickly is the warning sign.
Take independent advice on overseas property
NepalNet cannot verify land titles, ownership or approvals in another country. Use your own lawyer there and never transfer money on the strength of an advertisement.
